DOOM: The Dark Ages Campaign Will Feature a Large Number of Missions
id Software has officially introduced DOOM: The Dark Ages, promising fans of the franchise an engaging and epic single-player campaign. The developers have expanded the design of several environments, allowing players to explore and discover side activities across the vast stages. The studio had previously confirmed that DOOM: The Dark Ages will feature the largest campaign in the series' history.
Recently, a new gameplay trailer was revealed in collaboration with PlayStation, showcasing a brand-new level called Cosmic Realm. The trailer highlighted deadly new enemies and an ancient weapon. Following the trailer, Hugo Martin, the game’s director, confirmed that the campaign will consist of 22 missions. For comparison, both DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal offered 13 missions each.
Currently, it's unclear exactly how much time players will need to complete the full campaign or all the main and side content. However, Martin previously mentioned that some levels would feature the largest spaces ever created in the history of DOOM, aiming to deliver a truly expansive experience. Despite the larger scope, the developers want players to remain engaged, suggesting that each mission should take roughly an hour to complete without feeling overly stretched.
Considering the significant amount of optional and side content included within the stages, players who are eager to explore every aspect of DOOM: The Dark Ages will enjoy a notably longer experience. The game is scheduled to release on May 15, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
